AIGA AVL Design Salon 2020

Join us for an exploration into the way art and design get made, the reasons it often gets rejected, the nature of the difficulties that cause so many creatives to give up along the way in business and in practice, and how to sell. This Design Salon series provokes difficult conversations and provides everyday strategies, inspirational work, and practical advice to push through fear and insecurity, and sell work to clients. Unveiling the mysteries around charging clients the value of services while staying competitive.

WHO> Highlighting the “Je ne sais quoi” in the work being made by local designers, photographers, developers, illustrators and more.. this event series is for anyone interested in a celebration of unique souls who express meaning and stay in the game against all odds.

Each event will host 3-5 speakers and each speaker will focus on one of the following topics: Fear, Worth, Voice and Oeuvre (ie. the body of work, the study, the process). How we pick the presenters?

This event is curated. Each presenter is carefully selected for merit and outstanding work. A group of design lovers get together once a month over lunch and discuss who’s work excites us. We look for something new, interesting, special. Design is important to us and we want to elevate the whole community by showing what we think is our best work. We feel that being selective allows an opportunity to do a few important things: 1. Pat backs, high five, stroke egos 2. Highlight work that inspires us and pushes the craft 3. Create a value by narrowing it all down in a forum. A container. This event features graphic designers AANND advertisers, photographers, filmmakers, ar/vr, motion graphics, web developers, illustrators, visual artists, social media marketing, PR, SEO, architects, and interior design. Individuals must reside in the Asheville area.

Want to be a presenter?

We can’t possibly know everyone, we want to see what you or someone you know has to offer. If you are interested in being a presenter or would like to nominate someone, please fill out the form here. Have a question? No need to be polite, let us know how you feel.
